Seven Asian liner companies jointly launch new Mexico service

 

Recently, Singapore-based SeaLead announced the launch of a direct liner route (AMX) directly connecting China, South Korea and Mexico, aiming to provide customers with a trade channel from the Far East to Mexico, thereby increasing export opportunities for companies in these regions.

 

According to reports, the AMX route was launched by SeaLead in conjunction with Sinotrans Container Lines, TS Lines, Emirates Shipping Line, RCL, KMTC and Sinokor Merchant Marine. Each company deploys a 2,800TEU container ship.

 

The AMX service aims to provide companies with reliable, efficient and fast transportation solutions and optimize transportation time to Mexico. The first voyage is scheduled to depart from Shanghai on April 30. Port sequence: Shanghai-Qingdao-Pusan-Manzanillo-Shanghai.

 

The AMX service will offer fast transit times - 23 to 25 days from China to the Mexican port of Manzanillo, and 21 days from Busan to Manzanillo.

 

Bernd Meyer, Global Sales and Business Development Director of SeaLead, said, "The Asia-Mexico trade route is key to the global supply chain as Mexico is the assembly and manufacturing base for products in North America. The newly launched AMX service provides seamless trade connections and faster cargo transportation on this important trade route connecting China, South Korea and Mexico. AMC also complements the existing Americas service and expands the coverage of transatlantic trade."

Mark Lee, Managing Director of SeaLead North America, said, "The AMX service expands coverage in the North American market, allowing us to better serve our customers and complements the two existing routes, AWC and MEDUS, covering the West and East routes of the United States respectively. Through this new route, connecting Asia with Mexico, providing customers with dedicated feeder connections, helping them to better optimize their supply chains. The AMX service has structured routes and efficient scheduling to promote seamless transportation between Asia and North America."

 

Honghai Container Lines said it will deploy the "Ganta Bhum" (2824TEU, built in 2005) and name the route RCL Far East-Latin America route.

 

At the same time, this will be the first time that Changjin Merchant Marine has opened an ocean route since its establishment in 1989. For Koryo Shipping, this means its return to the American market after handing over the trans-Pacific route to HMM in 1985.
