Delayed for 10 days! Maersk announces port jump!
Recently, the Port of Cape Town in South Africa has been seriously congested. Due to the continued influence of bad weather, the congestion may further worsen.
In response, Maersk (MSK) issued a notice stating that the Port of Cape Town faces a delay of 8 to 10 days.
MSK expects that strong winds will cause ships to arrive in large numbers at the Port of Cape Town.
At the same time, this situation will also affect the original sailing plan of MSK's "Maersk Chennai 508E".
To avoid delays, MSK announced that the "Maersk Chennai 508E" will cancel its call at the Port of Cape Town, and all orders originally planned to load the ship will be handed over to the "Maersk Cubango 510E".
In addition, MSK has issued a notice stating that the "One Responsibility" ship on the Europe-South Africa route (SAECS) jointly operated by MSK, Hapag-Lloyd (HPL) and Ocean Network Shipping (ONE) will skip Cape Town and sail directly to Europe from Durban, South Africa.
Data shows that from March 3 to 9, the throughput of Cape Town Port was 18,195 TEUs. The South African Association of Freight Forwarders (SAAFF) predicts that due to congestion, the throughput from March 10 to 16 will drop by 19% to 14,793 TEUs.
Here we remind freight forwarders and cargo owners to track their cargoes to avoid delays and losses.
