Delay! The port is down! India's largest container terminal is congested!

In February this year, many ports in Asia, Africa and Europe experienced congestion, which led to cargo delays.

According to foreign media news, currently serving India's largest container port - Nawasiva port also appeared congestion.

According to industry sources, from April last year to January this year, a total of 870 container ships docked at the port, much higher than the 704 in the same period last year, and the container throughput also soared from 1.7 million TEUs to 1.84 million TEUs.

Staff at the port say the root cause of the congestion is a mismatch between the port's sea and land transport capacity.

Major shipping lines, such as Maersk, use very large container ships on routes departing from India, which means that each docking involves more container exchanges.

At the same time, exporters tried to maximize shipments before the end of the fiscal year on March 31, resulting in a 23 percent year-on-year increase in shipments at Nawasiwa port last month.

For the current situation of port congestion, the person in charge of Nawasiwa Port said that the second phase of the project will be opened soon, and the handling capacity of 2.4 million TEUs will be added, and the port capacity is expected to be enough to meet the recent cargo volume forecast.

It is understood that the two ports of Nawasiwa Port and Mundra Port jointly bear the vast majority of India's container freight volume.

Local transport companies are calling for greater coordination at the port and terminal levels and more effective planning and management of cargo to ease the current traffic congestion dilemma.

Sunny worldwide logistics  have more than 26 years of freight forwarding history, and over half of staffs working in Sunny about 5-13years. Sunny Worldwide Logistics is not a small freight forwarding workshop, owning 1800 square meters A-class office. Highly attention on the shipment more than the owner, site supervising and real-time tracking feedback.

Due to the current congestion problem in many ports around the world, freight forwarders should do a good job of tracking goods to avoid delays and losses.
