Ouyang Hua pointed out that Port Klang can currently handle more than 20 million TEU, of which 14 million TEU in Port Klang West and 6.5 million TEU in Port Klang North, and now the throughput of Port Klang West has exceeded 80%, reaching saturation point. Port Klang Authority expects Port Klang to grow by 4 or 5% each year, hence the "Phase 2" expansion plan for Port Klang West.
The Port Klang West Marina waterfront will be expanded by 4.8 km to add eight berths, while four berths will be built in the first phase of Port Klang II, which is expected to be completed by 2043.
