According to media reports, on September 23, a container containing lithium ion batteries in the Port of Montreal, Canada, caught fire, triggering a temporary home order for nearby residents.
A firefighter was injured in the incident, which took place in one of the port's containers containing 15,000 kilograms of lithium batteries.
In fact, this is not the first time in September, similar fire accidents have occurred.
Fire in Visakhapatnam, India
On September 14, a fire broke out at the container terminal in Visakhapatnam, India, and smoke enveloped the entire area, making the situation tense.
Sources said an officer on duty spotted smoke coming from a 40-foot container containing lithium batteries for electric vehicles, mainly four-wheelers.
After the fire broke out, the terminal management responded quickly, promptly isolated the container, and urgently called in the fire engine of Visakhapatnam Port Authority to cool down. Subsequently, the contents of the container were safely removed and properly disposed of in strict accordance with safety procedures.
In addition, the accident happened near a movie set near the terminal. Fortunately, VCTPL assured that all safety measures were in place and the film crew was not harmed throughout the incident.
The container was said to have arrived in Kolkata from China.

In July, a container caught fire at a dock in Yantian District, Shenzhen, after investigation, the fire scene burned the container lithium batteries and other goods, the fire area of about 8 square meters, no casualties, the cause of the fire was lithium battery thermal control.
In June, a fire broke out in a container containing goods at Indah Island, Port West Klang. About 14 containers were destroyed! The fire department's initial investigation shows that the cause of the fire may be related to lithium batteries.
