Mutual recognition of AEO between China and this country will soon be implemented

Mutual recognition of AEO between China and this country will soon be implemented

From March 1, the "Authorized Economic Operator" (AEO) mutual recognition mechanism between China Customs and Burundi Customs will officially enter the implementation stage, marking the total number of countries (regions) implementing AEO mutual recognition with China JCtrans Jess Circle increased to 48. It further consolidated China's leading position in the process of global trade facilitation.

As another important member of the African continent, Burundi has become the third country to reach such a high-level trade confidence-building agreement with China, following Uganda and South Africa. This is not only another proof of the deepening development of China-Africa economic and trade relations, but also opens up a new path for promoting regional economic connectivity.

The implementation of AEO mutual recognition will bring a series of substantial customs clearance convenience for AEO qualified enterprises of the two countries. These enterprises can not only enjoy the lower inspection rate of imported goods provided by the customs of both sides, thereby reducing the customs clearance time and cost, but also obtain the privilege of priority processing when physical inspection is required. In addition, the customs of the two sides will also designate special liaison officers to efficiently communicate and solve various problems encountered by AEO enterprises in the customs clearance process to ensure the smooth flow of trade. The implementation of these measures will undoubtedly greatly improve the efficiency of cross-border circulation of goods between the two countries and create a more convenient and efficient trade environment for enterprises of both sides.

Trade between China and Burundi has always been close, and the two sides are one of each other's most important trading partners. China exports a wide range of commodities to Burundi, including rubber tires, internal combustion engines, electronic products, automobiles and parts, mechanical and electrical products, and textiles, which enjoy a high reputation and wide demand in the Burundian market. At the same time, Burundi's rich natural resources are also favored by the Chinese market, and its special commodities such as mineral products, tea, coffee, avocados and gems are expanding their share in the Chinese market year by year, showing huge market potential.

According to statistics, in 2024, the bilateral trade volume between China and Burundi reached 804 million yuan, an increase of 0.5% over the same period last year, of which China's imports from Burundi increased by 1.4 times to 163 million yuan. This achievement is not only due to the strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two governments, but also the efforts made by the customs authorities of the two sides in promoting trade facilitation. The implementation of the AEO mutual recognition will undoubtedly inject new impetus into the further development of trade between the two countries, further facilitate the cross-border flow of goods, deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and promote the common prosperity of the two economies.

At the same time, the General Administration of Customs will further improve the credit management system, constantly improve the benefit level of AEO enterprises, strive to create a first-class port business environment of integrity, safety and efficiency, and contribute more Chinese wisdom and strength to promote the healthy development of global trade.
