Latest Ranking of the World's Top 100 Shipping Lines by Capacity (September 2024)
According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of September 3, the number of container ships in operation in the world totaled 7081, with a total capacity of 30.6749 million TEU, equivalent to about 364 million deadweight tons. Among them, the total capacity of the top three liner companies accounted for 46.51% of the global market.
The top three shipping lines in the world are Mediterranean Shipping (6,076,700 TEU, accounting for 19.81%), Maersk Line (4,357,700 TEU, accounting for 14.21%) and CMA CGM Shipping (3,832,100 TEU, accounting for 12.49%).
Alphaliner pointed out that the fourth and 10th place in terms of capacity were: COSCO Shipping Group, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Shipping (ONE), Evergreen Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Star Shipping and Yangming Shipping. The top seven have a capacity of more than 1.5 million TEU.
Ranking 11 to 20, in order: Wan Hai Shipping, Pacific Shipping, X-Press Feeders Group, Hai Fung International, Sea Lead Shipping, Koryo Shipping (KMTC), UniFeeder, Air Iran (IRISL), Chang Jin Merchant Marine and Emirates Shipping Line.
Among the listed Chinese mainland shipping companies, COSCO Shipping Lines ranked 4th, Haifeng International ranked 14th, Zhonggu Xinliang Shipping ranked 23rd, Antong Holdings (Quanzhou Axa Shipping) ranked 25th, Ningbo COSCO ranked 26th, Tangshan Port Hede Shipping ranked 30th, Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping ranked 32nd, Sinotrans Shipping ranked 35th. Zhonglian Shipping ranked 43rd, Yangpu Xinyuan Shipping ranked 45th, Taicang Port Container shipping ranked 55th, Hai 'an New Port ranked 79th, Dalian Jifa Bohai Sea Container Shipping ranked 80th, Tianjin Datong Shipping ranked 90th and Guangxi Hongxiang Shipping ranked 94th.
