Check them out! New US Customs rules! The number of penalties has increased significantly!

Recently, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a new rule: strict inspection of goods over $800.

Starting Jan. 11, 2025, goods purchased by the same recipient and delivered to the United States on the same day, with a total value of more than $800, will face a tougher review process.

Even small items sent in multiple packages run the risk of being delayed or even impounded if the cumulative amount is $800 or more.

In fact, the United States is constantly increasing the severity of penalties for non-compliance with import and export rules.

According to statistics, the number of penalties imposed by the US Department of Commerce for import and export violations has increased significantly in the past six months.

It is worth noting that although the increase in fines for a single violation is relatively small, and can only increase by a few hundred dollars per violation, supply chain and compliance managers have observed an increase in the number of cases in which fines are levied.

"The cost of non-compliance has never been higher," says Hugo Pakula, a customs expert.

For shippers, the constant changes in the rules increase the risk of transport costs in the movement of goods.
