Cma CGM formed a joint venture with ABU Dhabi Ports Group
ABU Dhabi Ports Group and CMA CGM Group have formed a joint venture to develop and operate the New East Mole multi-purpose terminal in Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo.
AD Ports Group has signed a shareholder agreement with CMA CGM Group to jointly develop, manage and operate the New East Mole multi-purpose terminal in Pointe Noire, Congo, through its subsidiary CMA Terminals. AD Ports Group was granted a 30-year renewable concession in June 2023.
With the signing of the agreement, AD Ports Group and CMA CGM Group have formed a joint venture, majority-owned by AD Ports Group. Pointe-noire is the second largest city in the Republic of Congo, located in the southwest of the country, west of the Atlantic Ocean, Pointe-Noire port is one of the main ports of the West African route, but also an important transit port in West Africa. The terminal will handle containers, groceries, bulk cargo and other types of cargo here.
At the time of the concession, AD Ports Group said it expected to invest about $220 million (AED 807 million) in the first phase of the project to build a 400-meter-long, 16-meter-deep berths along the shoreline and a 10-hectare logistics park.
With this new agreement, AD Ports Group and CMA CGM Group further cement their partnership following the inauguration last December of CMA Terminal Khalifa Port, a $845 million terminal that will expand Khalifa Port's 7.8 million TEUS container capacity by 33 percent or 2.6 million TEUs in 2024.
